New Order Boeing 787-9 and 737 MAX From Air Lease Corporation
New Order Boeing 787-9 and 737 MAX From Air Lease Corporation. Air Lease Corp ordered two new Boeing 787-9s and completed a previously announced order for 12 737 Max aircraft, according to Boeing on August 8.ALC selected the GE Aviation GEnx-1B engines to power the two new 787-9s, according to the engine manufacturer. The 737 Max is powered exclusively by the CFM International Leap-1B engine.
Deliveries of the 787-9 are slated to begin in 2019, GE says. The new sale extends the landlord's portfolio from 787s to 49 and 737 Max backlog to 130.
A Boeing press release identified the types included in the order as five 737 Max 7s and seven 737 Max 8s. The new orders reflect "the incremental demand we are experiencing for these aircraft through existing and new customers for ALC," says John Plueger, president and CEO of ALC.
