Airbus A320neo (new engine option) launch customer, Lufthansa has operated the re-engines commercial aircraft flew out of Germany for the first time.

On April 12 2016, the Star Alliance's airline member deploys its second A320neo (registration D-AINB) for a regional flight service from Frankfurt to London Heathrow.

Lufthansa says the flight was an isolated  flight, aimed to familiarizing the pilot with the new aircraft characters. The airline will continue to use its A320neos for German domestic flights. Since the Pratt & Whitney PW1100G geared turbofans' extended warm-up times.

The airline states that they are considering similar flights to other European cities with one type fleet. The third A320neo is to be delivered during the summer this year. Lufthansa is scheduled to receive a total of five A320neos this year.

According to our database per April 2016, Lufthansa ordered 20 A320neos and 5 A321neo. Whole aircraft will be installed with Pratt & Whitney engine options.
