Beriev A-40 Albatros the Russian amphibious aircraft or also probably be called flying boat while floating in Gelendzhik Lake. Located nearby of Black Sea, also known as resort town in Krasnodar Krai City. This photo taken by Jos Schoofs, the aircraft seems to be on 'taxiing' on water surface, ready to takeoff.

The A-40 Albatros also called Mermaid in NATO nickname, this aircraft manufactured by Beriev Aircraft Company. Apparently this aircraft designed as anti-submarine warfare. Its engines installed above the wings to support its mission on water surface, also some of beneath structure role as balance during floating, landing or takeoff.

The primary user of this aircraft is Russian Naval Aviation. There are only two A-40 been built. This aircraft also became based platform for Beriev Be-200used as bombing water for example.While Beriev A-42, with identical specifications transformed into Search and Rescue (SAR) aircraft, operated by Russian Navy.
