KF-X Jet To Use Elta Systems
KF-X Jet To Use Elta Systems. Elta Systems will develop an active electronic scanning radar (AESA) for South Korea's KF-X fighter, under a contract signed with the state defense development agency. The South Korean sources value the deal at more than USD 35 million, with the Israel Aerospace Industries subsidiary cooperating with a local partner in the country.
Seoul launched its KF-X program in 2015, and plans to manufacture more than 120 fighters to replace its old McDonnell Douglas F-4 and Northrop F-5.
The award is another international success for Elta, which last year began negotiations related to the provision of an AESA ELM-2052 radar for an Mk2 version of the Texas light fighter aircraft of the Aviation Development Agency of India. It already supplies its ELM-2032 radar for an earlier fighter model built by Hindustan Aeronautics.
